Supporting your congregation in the workplace – how we can help

In your congregation, you might have teachers, cleaners, doctors, homemakers, shop assistants, bricklayers… However people spend their working hours, they can work with a passion, knowing that they’re working for God – and knowing they’re where God wants them to be!

When people believe this, it can transform their whole attitude to work – and their whole attitude to life, too! And then it will transform their work colleagues, their boss, their friends … and look, they’re engaging!

People in your congregation need to know they don’t have to be in full-time Christian work to make a difference to God. They can make that difference wherever they are and whatever they do! Through their work they can provide positive links to the whole community.

If members of your congregation feel they’re working for God in their job, and they’re happy in what they do – celebrate with them! It’s great for those who see no distinction between their life in church and their life at work.

There will be others who feel strongly they’re in the wrong job; or who aren’t sure what they want to do as a career; or for reasons of disability or family commitments can’t do the job they long to do.

Care for the Family has resources that might help you as you support your congregation in the area of work.
