All parents want to help their children use money wisely. Perhaps some parents haven’t managed their own money well in the past, and don’t want their children to make the same mistakes. And sometimes parents feel that they don’t have enough knowledge themselves to be able to pass on information to their children.
This is where Quidz In can help. Following on from the success of How to Drug Proof Your Kids®, Care for the Family has developed this new community programme for parents. It’s an informal and practical course that gives participants the knowledge they need to talk with their children about money from an early age.
Participants will learn how the world of finance works: budgeting, spending money wisely, saving and looking to the future. It’s practical, includes fun things to do at home with the kids, and considers that thorny issue of pocket money!
It’s not necessary to be a mathematical genius. Quidz In is about becoming financially aware, understanding how money works and how to get the best out of it. Anyone who wants to give children (aged from eight to teens) the inside track on finance issues will find Quidz In offers the information they’re looking for.
And anyone wanting to reach their community by helping parents teach their children to manage their money wisely can become a Quidz In facilitator!
The two-day training (mapped to National Occupational Standards for Work with Parents) equips you to deliver the programme in your own community.
You don’t need to be a finance expert - Care for the Family’s comprehensive materials will enable you to deliver this new resource – and you’ll be provided with ongoing support and the opportunity to gain Open College Network (OCN) credits.
Once the training is over, as a licensed facilitator you’ll have access to a freephone helpline. You’ll also receive a free newsletter and web-based support - www.quidzin.org.uk includes a facilitators section, dedicated to supporting, encouraging and equipping you to facilitate the Quidz In programme in your community.
