3–D Christmas tree

You will need

• Green card
• Glue stick
• PVA glue
• Glitter (various colours)
• Star stickers
• Gold or silver lid (for pot)
• Coloured paint and small brush

How to make a Christmas tree

• Pre-cut three Christmas tree shapes for each child from green card, using the template.

• Make a fold down the centre of each Christmas tree shape.
• Ask the child to cover one side of each tree shape, using glue stick. Adult help will be needed to stick the three tree shapes together. Carefully match the sides and centre folds. You will now have a 3D tree!
• Encourage the children to dab the tree with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter. (Do a few dabs of glue for each colour glitter).
• Let the children add more colour by dabbing the tree with various colours of paint.
• Put a dab of glue in the bottom of the upturned lid (pot).
• Fold up the bottom square on each of the three tree pieces and press down into the glue in the bottom of the lid.
• Finally add a star sticker and the tree is finished!

Practical tips

• Hold tree over a tray when sprinkling the glitter.
• Use small brushes for paint and glue, as you don’t need much!
