Animal masks

Turn a paper plate into an animal mask by cutting out a quarter segment and two eye holes, gluing on some basic features and attaching a short piece of elastic. You can expand the craft activity by painting or colouring in the plate before you add the features, e.g. black or brown patches on the cow. If the children dislike having a mask in front of their face, try gluing the features onto a headband instead.

You could make just one animal to illustrate a particular story, e.g. the lost sheep, or turn your toddler group into Noah’s ark by making all the masks! The rabbit, chick and sheep are particularly suitable for Easter, whilst the cow, donkey and sheep could be used for a nativity play.
