You will need:

  • Paper plate
  • Brown and black card. Top tip – use a manila file for cheap brown card.
  • Autumn leaves
  • Gluestick, double sided sticky tape, PVA glue and spreader
  • Thin elastic (approx. 30cm)
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Brown crayon or brown paint and paintbrush (optional)

How to make a hedgehog mask:

  • Cut out a quarter segment and two round eye holes from the paper plate.
  • Colour or paint the plate brown (optional).
  • Cut out two brown ears and a black nose from the card.
  • Glue the features on to the paper plate.
  • Glue the leaves on to make him prickly. Top tip - this is best done using the PVA glue or double sided sticky tape. Try to press the leaves down quite flat and paint over them with diluted PVA glue to give the hedgehog a bit of shine (and prevent him from moulting!)
  • Cut a suitable length of elastic to go around the back of the head. Tie a knot in each end to stop it slipping through and staple to each side of the plate to complete the mask.
