Photo of a spider biscuit on a web plate

This friendly bug could be taken home on his own ‘spiders web’ if you provided a paper plate and black crayons or pencils to draw the web. That’s assuming that he doesn’t get eaten first, of course!

You will need:

  • A round chocolate biscuit e.g. chocolate digestive
  • A chocolate tea-cake
  • Liquorice or cola laces
  • Two sweets for the eyes e.g. ‘Smarties’
  • Black writing icing for the pupils (optional)
  • Icing to glue the spider together. Top tip – supermarkets sell tubs of ready-made chocolate icing which is ideal for this.

How to make a spider biscuit:

  • Cut the laces to make 8 ‘legs’ and stick to the biscuit with icing.
  • Place the tea-cake ‘body’ on top.
  • Stick on the sweet ‘eyes’ and add a spot of black icing for the pupils (optional).

As with any food craft, please do CHECK FOR ALLERGIES before starting.
