Christmas pudding crispy cakes

Photo of Christmas Pudding Crispy CakesYou will need:

  • 100g (4oz) butter or margarine
  • 4 Mars Bars, chopped
  • Rice Krispies
  • Dried fruit (raisins and sultanas)
  • Glace cherries, chopped
  • Glace icing
  • Red and green ready-to-roll fondant icing

How to make Christmas pudding crispy cakes:

  • Melt the butter and chopped Mars Bars in a large pan over a low heat. You may need to whisk the mixture to blend in the lumps of nougat.
  • Remove from the heat and add the cereal. Stir to coat it with the chocolate mixture.
Top tip – an adult should melt the Mars Bars but the children can take it in turns to help stir in the cereal. Don’t make the crispy cake mixture in advance as it will solidify and become unworkable with time.
  • Give each child a handful of the crispy cake mixture in a bowl and get them to mix in some dried fruit and chopped glace cherries.
  • Shape it into a ball.
  • Dollop some white glace icing on the top.
  • Make holly berries and leaves from red and green ready-to-roll fondant icing and place on the top for a festive treat!

Run 21st Century Parent

Run 21st Century Parent alongside a toddler group. Where parents can be doing what thy normally do or join the group in another side room. The sessions are 15-20 minutes long and run at two different times, so that parents can help look after each others children. If possible, why not have a floating crèche worker in toddler group to help as well?
