Elastic band guitar

Photo of an elastic band guitarYou will need:

  • Any small sturdy empty box (I used one which had held washing tablets)
  • Good quality paper. Top tip – old gift bags provide nice, thick paper
  • Stickers or washable colouring pens, pencils or crayons to decorate
  • Gluestick or PVA glue and spreader
  • Elastic bands of various sizes. Top tip – cut around the top of an old pair of latex or washing-up gloves to make large elastic bands
  • Duct tape

How to make a guitar:

  • Cut a hole in the top of the box.
  • Cover with paper and colour or decorate with stickers.
  • Stretch the elastic bands around the box and hold in place with duct tape to prevent them being removed and presenting a choking hazard.
  • Strum away!
