When I ran my toddler group I liked to have ‘themed’ days, where the leaders, children, parents or carers could dress up as that theme, and the crafts and story would also be around the same theme.

As it’s International Pirate day you could have your own Pirate day in your group. Below are a couple of easy craft ideas for you to do within your groups.

Pirates - print and colour

Click on the link and you can print off a variety of pirate-themed colouring sheets to use in your group.

What you will need:

  • Colouring pens/pencils

A drawing of a pirate with a treasure chestThreading Treasure

This is a very simple craft.

What you will need:

  • Ball of string
  • Selection of different buttons
  • Uncooked pasta tubes
  • Foil milk tops
  • Cut up cardboard tubes

Thread all the different above items onto your piece of string. To make the treasure a lot more colourful, you could paint and glitter the cardboard tubes, and even colour the pasta with food colouring.
