As a Toddler Group Leader, you can sometimes come away from the session feeling exhausted and wondering what difference you’ve made (or is that just me!).

We put in so much hard ground work, using up a lot of energy making sure the group is run well and all the details are in place, while also working to make our volunteers feel fulfilled, content and encouraged in their work.

It’s good to have a rest over the holidays, and to take time in the summer to reflect on the year that has passed, on what you’ve achieved.

Be thankful for each parent, carer and child that attended your group, be encouraged by the friendships that have been made, the family issues – both positive and negative - your team have been able to help with, and the relationships you’ve developed yourself with your team.

2 Corinthians 5 v 20 says that we are Christ’s Ambassadors. We are actually God’s mouth pieces; He really does choose to use us to speak, to build relationships, and to encourage others in their journeys of faith, wherever they are along that particular road. You and your team are making a difference, not only in the lives of those parents and toddlers but to their extended families they go home to: to the husband that sees a change in his wife after they’ve been supported through those early days of a new born baby, to the family that have attended church as a result of your kindness, and the strength you showed them during a trauma they may have experienced, or the difference in the difficult toddler who found it hard to relate to others, and yet through the one to one support of the team is now able to share and enjoy making friends. There are probably lots of other success stories that you could share (please let me know!), it all comes down to the group that you run now. Without it many lives wouldn’t experience the love and care each week that you give out so freely; we are Christ’s Ambassadors in our group.

I hope you take time in the sunshine (that we’ll hopefully have this summer!) to remember that What you do matters. Thank you for all the hard work you do.

Have a great summer.
