Jo, at Daniel’s Den, Brent, writes:

Photo of mums and toddlers“We had a wonderful day last Friday as we launched our partnership with a toddler group in Lichinga, Mozambique. Earlier this year we were challenged about our finances and desired to sow locally, nationally and internationally. God led us to look into Mozambique, especially motherless children. We wanted a country where no one who attended Daniel’s Den came from. The Lord truly has guided our steps. The first thing our money will pay for is a ‘long drop toilet’ (I smile every time I say that) – and when this is built the toddler/crèche group can officially open!

“It was a joyous day – the parents loved the sense of helping others. As well as launching the Mozambique initiative we also took part in Stand Up – and we all stood up against poverty and injustice for one minute. This struck a cord very powerfully in our group and it was fitting this was part of Daniel’s Den Praise – our overtly Christian group. People from Guyana, Britain (England and Scotland), Italy, Sri Lanka, Barbados, Kenya, Palestine, India, Trinidad, Albania, Romania and Jamaica joined in this. Muslim, Hindu, Christian and others joined in. It was a significant moment.”

Naomi says: “It’s a great idea to encourage the group to be outward looking – and fundraising can often really help people bond together. How about doing a ‘bring and buy’ sale to allow people to pass on unwanted Christmas gifts – or to make room for the new ones?!”
