Connect to...
...your community
Richard Hardy, Care for the Family's Head of Church Relations, asks “What is your group’s raison d’être?” Do you run your toddler group just for the benefit of the carers and children who attend, or can it play a part in a greater plan? With honesty and humour, Richard will explore how to effectively engage with the families who come to your groups to build deeper relationships and sensitively meet the needs of your community.
...Care for the Family
Naomi Buckler, Care for the Family's Parenting Programme Manager, explains how Playtime is here to support you in your role as a toddler group leader. She will outline the many and varied ways in which Care for the Family can help you to help your families. Find out how to make use of “Smalltalk”, the brand new ‘Book Box’, parenting resources, relationship-strengthening materials and our specialist services to support families in times of crisis.
...other toddler groups
Claire Wells, from Fegans, unpacks the benefits of connecting with leaders of similar groups locally, as well as regional and national networks. She will be launching an online discussion forum especially for toddler group leaders. This session includes an interactive section to help you “get started on getting connected”.
...outside organisations
Fiona Burt, Care for the Family's Playtime Coordinator, interviews leaders who, with little or no additional effort, have extended and enhanced the services provided at their group by making use of outside agencies like health visitors, midwives, musicians, and language and play experts. Are there connections you need to make?
...your church
Richard Hardy examines why your vicar, priest, pastor or minister may be the “missing link” in expanding your toddler group’s reach and ministry to families. Drawing on his personal experience, Richard will outline ways to encourage your church leaders to make contact with families through your groups and develop relevant and credible relationships. This session will include the next exciting instalment of the ‘teddy’ series of toddler group talks – Teddy’s Christmas Adventures!
You’ll also enjoy fun-filled micro-sessions which will show you how to...
- Use puppets to entertain and teach toddlers
- Tell stories that keep the attention of toddlers and parents
- Lead your children in song and dance
- Use absolutely anything in your craft sessions
